WHAT TO EXPECT?
There is no such thing as a typical day in the world of bluefin tuna fishing. However, there are a few things you can expect. You can expect some high weather during the bluefin season, so we recommend you book 3 or 4 full days of fishing to increase your chances. You can also expect that each day we are on the water we will make sure you are comfortable and “in the know” regarding your safety on the boat as well as the plan for the day. Once we have accomplished these tasks each day we will be on our way to our first mission of catching live bait. While we have a chilled bait on board we would like to have live bait in our tanks. Live bait will increase your chances of a catch. Catching the bait fish is fun and will warm you up for the bigger catch.
As we set out to find a bluefin tuna, we will talk with you about how to hook a bluefin and what to do once you have one on your line. Most importantly, you can take comfort knowing we will be with you every step of the way. Before you hear the screaming sound of your reel going out to sea at break-neck speed you can spend your time enjoying the whales, seals, seabirds and the beautiful Canadian coastline.
Preventing Seasickness
If you are prone to motion or seasickness—or think you might be—we recommend preparing ahead of time so you can fully enjoy your day on the water. Over-the-counter remedies such as Dramamine®, Bonine®, or meclizine are commonly used to help prevent symptoms. For those with a history of motion sensitivity, prescription patches (such as scopolamine) may also be an option—please consult your physician in advance.
For best results, take your medication before boarding, as directed on the label or by your doctor. Avoiding heavy meals and alcohol before your trip can also help minimize discomfort.
We want all guests to have a safe and enjoyable experience, so please take any precautions you feel necessary prior to arrival.
